Recorder's Notes | 2/ THOMAS MEACHER was born in 1909 in Walthamstow, Essex. to a PROVISIONS WAREHOUSEMAN & a Leather Worker. In 1927 aged 17 he was listed in GPO registers as a Certified Wireless Whatcher. He came to live with Uncle & Aunt, the CALLOWS atthe Falkland Arms in Bartholomew Street. Arthur Callow was brother to Thomas's mother ELIZA 'LILY' He married girl IVY MAUD POCOCK in 1932. They lived at 9 BUCKINGHAM ROAD, NEWBURY and had 2 children before he died in 1936. Sources. Thomas Charles Meacher's mother was Lilian Meacher, nee Callow. She died when Tom was 7 and he was sent from London to Newbury and brought up by Dodge Callow, his uncle and Elizabeth Mary Callow, nee Aldridge. Dodge possibly was the landlord of the Rising Sun.
Tom was presented with a bible in 1919-20 when he was 9 or 10.
He died of a burst ulcer on 14 Nov. 1936
