Recorder's Notes | An interesting family for research. A military family of some means. The family came from an Anglo-Irish family from Somerset with a long pedigree. This is a side branch of the family who were not entailed. His mother was Lady Sherard. He and his family lived in a large house at Little Missenden near Amersham, Bucks. After his wife, Caroline's death, he married again in 1894, Alice Evelyn Woodman, a Nurse, 50 years his junior. John Philip died in Newbury, possibly the reason the graves of the family are in Newbury. Maurice lived in London as a Gentleman. He married a young woman, Julia Amy Heatley. who divorced him in 1885. Their son, Sherard led a seemingly colourful life, at first in the Military. Sources: Full names of John Philip & Maurice from census records. |
