Hannah Bailey was born in Chaddleworth Berkshire she was baptised on the 21st May 1820 the daughter of Alfred and Lucy Bailey (nee Duman) who married in Chaddleworth on the 18th December 1814.

Hannah married John Wherrell (born c1823 in Newbury) in 1845 (marriage registered in Newbury), they had the following children (all births registered in Newbury):

Harriet 1858
Alice 1862 (died 1862 buried in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 14th November)
Kate 1864 (died aged 17 months buried in the Newtown Road Cemetery 6th April 1866 Surname recorded as Werrell)
In 1851 the family were living in West Mills Newbury. John was working as an Agricultural Labourer.
The 1861 census records John as a Publican, living in Back Lane Newbury with his family.
In 1871 the family were recorded living in at the Borough Arms Newbury. John was working as a Labourer (Coal Heaver).
John died aged 54 in 1878 he was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 15th November.
The 1881 census records Hannah (59) (recorded as Ann on ancestry in the 1881 and 1891 census) as a Publican, her widowed daughter Kathleen L Brunsdon (27), formerly a Cook, her granddaughter Ruby Brunsdon (2), her son Thomas (25), an Engineer and two boarders, living at 9 Gashouse Road Newbury.
The 1891 census records Hannah (69) as a Beer House Keeper living at 9 Charles Place Newbury. Her son Thomas (35) was still living with her and was again recorded as an Engineer.
Hannah died aged 72 on the 20th October 1893 she was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 23rd October.
