1822-1893

Elizabeth Gale was born in Wiltshire in 1822 and was baptised in Market Lavington on the 7th April 1822 she was the daughter of George & Ann Gale (nee Green) who were married in Market Lavington on the 26th November 1820.

By 1851 Elizabeth was living in Newbury with her husband (no marriage found) and children, Pound Street (1851), The Litten (1861), Bartholomew Street (1871), Litten House (1881) and Argyle Road (1891). James was recorded as a Blacksmith in 1851, 1861 and 1891, an Iron Founder’s Labourer in 1871 and a Gardener’s Labourer in 1881.

James & Elizabeth had the following children who were all born in Newbury:

James died aged 70 in 1891 he was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 21st September

Elizabeth died 71 in 1893 she was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 7th May
