Biographical Information

The articles below contain information about Rupert Edward Aldridge.

Rupert Edward Aldridge buried 18th Feb 1893 - no age

Rupert Edward Aldridge buried 18th Feb 1893  - no age

FNRC states he was from the Newbury Union -taken from Newbury Cemetery Company (NCC) listing – I think this is an error – see explanation below:

You can’t trust the NCC record keeping as a Thomas Tubb also listed on the same page as Rupert E does not state he was from the Newbury Union – although he was. FNRC web says Thomas Tubb buried 4th March age 75. Parish from which he was admitted to the workhouse Thatcham. Work house Master William Hawkes. So if they could leave out this info could just as easily accidently add Union to the record.

Also, according to the Newbury Cemetery Company register on FNRC website the company took 5s 6d fees for this burial, clergymen got standard 5s – a still born child cost 2s 6d in fees – so 5s 6d could be the child’s rate – most other fees were more than this from 6s - £1.1s

FMP – only one record of a Rupert Edward Aldridge being buried in Newbury in 1893 and states he was 0 years old – an infant.

England and Wales Deaths 1837 – 2007 states as above aged 0

Berks Burial Record  states age less than 1year – church being St Nicolas -mother maiden name - Ayres ( which means he is probably the son of William ( Stone mason/stone sawyer and (Martha) Jane Aldridge

William and Jane Aldridge  had a large family
