Elizabeth Deane
c1808-1890 Elizabeth was born in Speenhamland Berkshire, the daughter of John and Elizabeth Deane (nee Tinker) who were married on the 23rd August 1806 at St Nicolas Church Newbury. (John was from the parish of Speen)

Her father John (birth and death unknown) had a Foundry in Oxford Street, Newbury in the early 1820's, when he died the Foundry was taken over by Messrs Plenty. Elizabeth's mother Elizabeth was born c1783 in Highclere Hampshire. She has a Meal Shop in Cheap Street, Newbury (later absorbed by Messers Midwinter). She died in 1871 and was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 22nd December.
Both the 1841 and 1851 census records record Elizabeth living at the "Mackworth Arms Inn" Wind Street, Swansea, Glamorganshire Wales. The 1851 census records Elizabeth as a Housekeeper.
By 1861 Elizabeth (53) was working as a Shop Woman, (possibly working in her mother's Meal Shop). She was living in Greenham, Berkshire with her mother Elizabeth (78).
The 1871 census records Elizabeth (63) as a Retired Grocer living in Newbury, her sister Ann (59), an Annuitant, was recorded living with her. The 1881 census records Elizabeth (73) living at S Southampton Terrace, Newbury. Her sister Ann (68), late a Governess was still living with her and a lodger Alfred H Lee (39), a Brewery Manager and Brewer was also recorded in the household.
Elizabeth died aged 82 on the 21st March 1890, she was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery in a consecrated private grave on the 26th March.
