James Adnams
c1802-1890
James was born in Aldermaston Berkshire, he was baptised on the 26th September 1802 in Aldermaston the son of James and Sarah Adnams (nee Gould).
James and Sarah also had the following children (all baptised in Aldermaston except Harriet who was baptised in Wasing):

James married Elizabeth Mary Waldron (baptised 18th May c1808 in Lambourn the daughter of John and Mary Waldron (nee Butler) who married in Lambourn in 1801) on the 18th March 1835 in Bradfield Berkshire
Known children of James and Elizabeth were:

The 1841 census records James (35), as a Farmer in Bucklebury living with Elizabeth (30), Elizabeth (4) and John (1) (family name recorded as Adamus on ancestry).The next family recorded on the census page was a Mary Waldron (55), James Waldron (25) and Catherine Waldron (23), (possibly Elizabeth’s mother Mary and her siblings)
The 1851 census records James (48) and Elizabeth (42) living at Sadgrove Farm, Bucklebury. James was farming 308 acres, employing 25 Labourers. William and John were recorded as pupils at Bews Commercial School, Speen Hill, Berkshire.
By 1861 James and Elizabeth had moved to Cold Ash Farm, Thatcham. James was farming 174 acres employing 13 labourers and 3 boys. William (24) and John (21) were also living with them.
Both the 1871 and 1881 census records record James and Elizabeth at Cold Ash Farm. In 1871 their grandson John (4) was living with them (family name recorded as Adyams on ancestry in 1871)
James died aged 87 on the 16th February 1890, he was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery (date unknown)
The 1891 census records Elizabeth (82) living “On Own Means” at Cold Ash Farm. She died aged 88 on the 21st March 1897, she was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 26th March.
Probate: 15th April 1890 Adnams James Personal Estate: £982 4s
The Will of James Adnams late of Cold Ash Thatcham in the County of Berks Yeoman who died 16th February 1890 at Cold Ash was proved at Oxford by John Adnams of Hungerford in the said County Corn Dealer the Son and James Adnams of Speenhamland Newbury in the said County Brewer the Nephew the Executors
