Harriett Elizabeth Chivers

Harriet Elizabeth Chivers nee Cummins (1861-1935)

Born in Burghclere in 1861 to Stephen and Sarah Cummins.

Stephen was an agricultural labourer and they were living at Hairs Cottage, Winchester Turnpike, Burghclere, Kingsclere. Other children Stephen 7, Charles 5, Charlotte 3 and Harriet 1.

Harriet married Thomas Chivers in June 1881 in Newbury.

Thomas was a bricklayer. On 1901 census they were living a Bunkers Hill, Enborne and had five children living at home.

Thomas 19 also a bricklayer, Ellen 15 a dressmaker’s apprentice, George 14, Edith 13 and Annie 8.

By 1911 they were living at Rose Cottage, Enborne with two children living at home.

Ellen Jane 26, now a dressmaker and Annie Marie 18, a teacher. Harriet died in 1935 at Hampden Cottage, Battle Road. Thomas had died in 1926 while they were still at Rose Cottage. Ref findmypast
