Sarah Church
c1818-1888
Sarah was born in Aldbourne, Wiltshire, she was baptised on the 22nd October 1818, the daughter of Robert (a Farmer at Dudmore Lodge) and Elizabeth Church (nee Williams) who were married on the 9th December 1805, in Baydon, Wiltshire (Robert was from the parish of Aldbourne).
Robert and Elizabeth also had the following children baptised in Aldbourne:
Robert, 11th February 1807 (died in 1811, buried 25th April, in Aldbourne)
Elizabeth, 26th April 1808
George, 20th March 1810
Mary, 8th October 1811
Theodosia, 5th April 1813
Robert, 1st November 1815
John, 26th June 1817
Francis, either the 13th or 14th January 1821
In 1841-1861 Sarah was living at home (Dudmore Lodge, Aldbourne)
In 1851 Sarah (32) was recorded living with her father Robert (70), Farmer of 650 acres, employing 23 Labourers, her sister Elizabeth (43), her brothers John (33), Robert (35), her sister-in-law Fanny (29) (nee Brind), her nephew William (2) and seven servants.
In 1861 Sarah (42) she was recorded living with her father Robert (81), a Farmer of 700 acres, employing 17 men and 6 boys, her sister Elizabeth (53), her brother John (43), her married sister (recorded as a visitor) Theodosia Platt (47), visitors, Caroline Williams (41), Fanny Platt (15) and two servants.
In 1871 Sarah (52) was working as a Housekeeper, living with her married niece Elizabeth Skinner (27) (nee Platt), her nephew-in-law, William Skinner, (35), a Maltster and their children, Fanny (2) and William (1), in Wharf Road, Greenham, Berkshire.
The 1881 census records Sarah (62), living with her nephew Ernest Church (29), a Grocer, in Enborne Road, Newbury.
Sarah died aged 71 on the 16th November 1888 and was laid to rest in a private grave in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 21st November.
Probate: CHURCH Sarah Personal Estate: £151 13th December 1888 The Will of Sarah Church late of Stroud Green Greenham in the County of Berks spinster who died 16th November 1888 at Stroud Green was proved at the Principal Registry by Fanny Elizabeth Wansbrough (wife of Edward Wansbrough) of South Western Railway Station Brentford in the County of Middlesex the niece the sole Executrix
