James Ernest Brazier
1886-1888
James Ernest was born in Newbury, the son of Alfred and Louisa Brazier (nee Coath) who were married on the 28th December 1878 at St George Hanover Square Middlesex.
James Ernest died age two years and three months in 1888, he was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 25th April.
James Ernest’s family:
His father Alfred was a Bricklayer. He was born in 1856 in Newbury the son of Thomas (a Tailor) and Louisa Brazier (nee Hyland) who were married on the 16th December 1839 at St Nicolas Church Newbury
His mother Louisa was born in 1854 Fowey, Cornwall the daughter of Thomas (a Labourer) and Louisa Coath (nee Bate) who were married on the 8th July 1845 in Lansallos Cornwall

In 1881 Alfred (24), Louisa (26) and their son Alfred (6 months) were recorded living at 6 Montague Terrace, Newbury.
The 1891 census records Alfred (33) Louisa (35), Alfred (11) and Mabel (8) living in Montague Terrace. Louisa was recorded as a Lunatic. Also recorded in the household was a visitor, Eleanor Knott (24). Alfred and Louisa’s son William (6) was recorded living in Northcroft Lane, Newbury with his aunt and uncle William and Eliza Wood (nee Brazier).
The 1901 census records Louisa as a patient in the Moulsford Lunatic Asylum in Cholsey Berkshire. Alfred was recorded living in Pound Street, Newbury Also living with him were his children Alfred (19), a Carpenter, Mabel (18), Willie (16), Ellen Knott (33) a Housekeeper and three Knott children (Knott children recorded as visitors).
The 1911 census records Alfred (54), his “wife” Ellen (40) and their children Dorothy, (18), Reginald (16) and Norah (15) living in Pound Street, Newbury. (This census records that Alfred had been married for 20 years and had 3 children. These three children were the Knott children recorded in the 1901 census as visitors, all of their births were registered with the surname Knott with no mother’s maiden name recorded. Alfred’s wife Louisa died aged 64 in 1919 (death registered in Wallingford). Alfred married Eleanor Knott the following year (marriage registered in Spalding Lincolnshire)
Alfred died aged 74 on the 15th May 1931, he was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 18th May.
Eleanor died aged 71 on the 19th March 1939, she was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 22nd March
