May Victoria Annie Young
1887-1887
May was born in Newbury the daughter of James and Annie Eliza Young (nee Goodman) who were married in Pancras London in 1886.
May died on the 31st May 1887 soon after she was born, she was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 6th June.
According to census records her father James was born c1823 in Newbury. He married Eliza (unknown) and was widowed in 1886. He went on to marry May’s mother Annie Eliza later that year.
Her mother Annie Eliza was born in1849 in Thatcham, Berkshire, the daughter of George and Jane Goodman (nee Ferris) who were married on the 13th November 1836 at St Mary Thatcham Berkshire.
James and Annie Eliza also had the follow three daughters:
Irene Eleanor Annie 1888
Gertrude Elsie c1890 (died aged 12, buried in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 15th October 1902)
Daisy Ethel 1891
In 1891 James (67) was recorded as a Waiter, living in Westcombes Bulidings, Newbury with his wife Anne (42) and their daughters Irene E A (3), Gertrude E (13 months) and Daisy E (1 month).
James died aged 69 on the 20th January 1892, he was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 25th January.
May’s sister Gertrude died aged 12 on the 13th October 1902, she was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery with her father on the 15th October.
In 1901 Annie (50) was recorded as a Cook (Domestic) she was living at 3 Albert Terrace, Newbury with her 3 daughters Irene, (12), Elsie (11) (Gertrude Elsie) and Daisy (10).
