May, 8, at Newbury, William Ozanne, Esq., late of Guernsey, in his 71st year.

William Ozanne

c1816-1886

William was born in St Peter Port, Guernsey, Channel Islands.

He was recorded as a Merchant in The United Grand Lodge of England Freemason Membership Registers 1751-1921

In 1841 William (25) was recorded as an Ironmonger living in Park Street, St Peter Port, Guernsey with his wife Rosalie (25) and their daughter Mary (aka Marie) (2months).

The 1851 census records William (35) as a Timber and Iron Merchant, living in Hauteville, St Peter Port, with Rosalie (36) and their children, Marie (9), William (8), Charles (6), Rosaline (5), Kate (4), Clarice (1), a Nurse and a House Servant.

In 1861 William (45) was recorded as a Timber Merchant, employing 8 men and a boy. He was living at 15 Park Street, St Peter Port with Rosalie (46) and their children, Marie (20), William (18), Charles (17), Kate (13), Clarice (11), Edith (9), Laura (5) and Ida (4).

Rosalie died aged 68 in 1883 (death registered in Hackney)

William died aged 70 in 1886, he was laid to rest in a consecrated private grave in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 8th May.
