Martha Ellen Bryant
1882-1885
Martha was born in Newbury the daughter of George and Sarah Bryant (nee Appleton) who were married in Newbury in 1880.
Her mother was born in Newbury the illegitimate daughter of Martha Appleton. She was baptised on the 23rd June 1843 in the parish church of St Nicolas Newbury. She died aged 77 on the 5th January 1921 and was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 8th January.
Her father was a Labourer. He was born in Thatcham Berkshire the son of John and Hannah Briant (nee Owen) who were married on the 26th February 1831 at the parish church of St Mary Thatcham. He died aged 45 on 8th October 1890 and was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 11th October.
Her mother gave birth to two daughters before she married Martha’s father, Mary Ann was born in 1861 and Alice was born in 1866.
In the 1881 census the family were recorded living in the City Newbury.
Martha died aged 3 on the 10th November 1885 she was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 16th November (with her cousin William Daniel Appleton)
