Transciption:	JOHN FOSTER THE LATE MR. JOHN FOSTER— Very general regret was experienced on Friday last on learning that Mr. John Foster, tailor, of this town, had died after a few days' illness. Deceased was a native of Marlborough, where members of his family continue to reside, his brother, Mr. Thomas Foster, having been only a few years since Mayor of that borough. Mr. John Foster commenced business in Hungerford, and some 32 years ago removed to Newbury, where be succeeded to a business formerly carried on by Mr. Dodson. He was an exceedingly genial man, hale, hearty, and vigorous, and appeared likely to live for many years. If he had lived until the 21st of this month , he would have completed his 70th year. The brief affliction which proved fatal was gout in the throat. For 46 years Mr. Foster was a member of Royal Berks Yeomanry. He was also an active member of the Horticultural Society, had been foreman of the Court Leet, acted as sidesman at the Parish Church until his removal to the Broadway, and was for 12 years in the choir. The funeral took place on Monday at the Cemetery, the Rev. W. C. Parr officiating; the mourners were Mr. G. E. Foster, Mr. Walter W. Foster, and Mr. Watson Willes Foster, sons of the deceased ; Mr. Thomas Foster, Mr. William Foster, and Mr. Edmond Foster, of Marlborough, and Mr. Samuel Foster, of Salisbury, brothers of the deceased; Mr. Charles Stuart Dean, of Bevington, and Mr. J. S. Wristbridge, of Ealing, sons-in-law of the deceased. His brother, Mr. David Foster, of Chester. was prevented from being present by illness. This is the first break in the family since the removal of his mother some years since at the advanced age of over 90. It was the wish of the family that there should be no military funeral. At the grave were also noticed Mr. Councillor S. Knight and Mr. A. Stradling, as representing the Horticultural Society; Messrs. Carter, Bailey, Scriven, S. G. Hunt, and F. Johnston, as representing the Yeomanry; and among personal friends, Mr. Burke Godwin, C. Saunders. F. Walker, T. Seymour, C. Bailey, &c., &c. The funeral arrangements were carried out by Mr. H. S.
