Joseph Talbot

1879-1885

Joseph was born in Shaw, Berkshire, the son of Joseph and Anne Talbot (nee Palmer) who were married on the 21st November 1868 at St Mary Speenhamland, Berkshire.

Joseph died aged 5 on the 5th January 1885, he was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 9th January.

Joseph’s Family:

His father Joseph was born c1843 in Woodspeen, Berkshire, he was baptised in 1843 in Speenhampland, Berkshire, the son of George and Mary Talbot (nee Eatell) who were married on the 7th November 1840 at St Michael, Inkpen, Berkshire.

His mother Ann was born in Shaw, Berkshire, she was baptised in 1844 in Speenhamland, Berkshire, the daughter of Moses and Harriet Palmer (nee Mial) who were married on the 2nd June 1828 in Hampstead Marshall, Berkshire.

Joseph and Ann also had the following children (all births registered in Newbury):
George Albert 1871 (surname recorded ass Talbott)

Amelia Kate 1877

Bertie c1881

Annie 1884

In 1871 Joseph and Ann were living in Shaw cum Donnington, Berkshire. Joseph was working as an Agricultural Labourer and Ann was working as a Laundress.

The 1881 census records Joseph (2) living with in Bartholomew Street, Newbury his father Joseph (37), a Labourer, his mother Anne (37), a Laundress and his siblings George (9), Amelia (3) and Bertie (2 months)

The 1891 census records Joseph (49) as an Agricultural Labourer, living in West Mills, Newbury with his wife Annie (49), a Laundress and their daughter Annie (6), their sons George (19), an Agricultural Labourer, and Bertie (10) and George’s wife Alice (20), a Tailoress.

Ann died in 1893 in London.

In 1901 Joseph (57) was working as a Coal Carman, he was living on the south side of Cromwell Place, Newbury with his married son George (29) and his family.

The 1911 census again records Joseph (now 67) living with George and family, at 14 Penrhiwtyn Street, Pant Yr Heol, Nr. Neath, Glamorgan, South Wales.

Joseph died aged 80 in 1924 (death registered in Swansea)
