Recorder's Notes | Joseph was the son of Thomas Richmond & Lucy nee Hines, later Lawrence. His parentage is unclear as he was living with his grandmother & her second husband, George Lawrence in 1871 in 7, Bartholomew Place off Bartholomew St, Newbury. Before marriage he worked as a Journeyman Baker for John Staples, Confectioner of 32, Northbrook St, Newbury. He married Ann Cripps, daughter of Richard Cripps, agricultural labourer & Woodman, & Ann of Upper Common, Bucklebury, where they married. They lived in 15, Park Tce, where John worked as a Baker, all their lives, Ann continuing there with their 3 daughters after Joseph's early death. Ann ran a Boarding house there.
