AGM

Unable to screen 'One Million Dubliners'

Last November Ros Clow asked if we could screen the film she had bought in Dublin at our next AGM. It was agreed and she contacted Glasnevin Cemetery, the subjuect of the film, to ask permission. They kindly agreed to it as long as it was just our Friends and we did not charge entry. That was given so we went ahead and organised it, we hired the main Hall at Riverside Community Centre which has projectiion equipment and publicised the event.

A week before the AGM we were contacted by Underground Films of Dublin who told us we should pay 200 euros fee to show their film! Obviously that was out of the question but we had to go ahead with the AGM. So Ros and David Clow spent the weekend before putting together a presentation about their visit to Glasnevin Cemetery in 2016 as part of the Association of Significant Cemeteries in Europe conference and added in some of their experiences at the conference this year in Athens.

Naturally members present were disappointed.

We have contacted Glasnevin so that they do not mislead any other Friends' groups.

The AGM went well with 22 Friends present, the same committee are carrying on with the welcome addition of Gaynor Clarke, who is particularly interested in the nature side of things. We will update the committee list soon!
