Wildflower Welcome Saturday 21st June

First open day for nature

Our first open day specifically to look at the natural habitat of the cemetery was wonderfully prepared by Joan Stacey, Rita Gardner, Jo Godfrey and Celia Pay. Examples of summer flowers were displayed labelled in the Chapel and in situ. A  Powerpoint presentation of photographs taken in summer was played throughout the day. Joan took two groups around to look at the wonderful array of flowers and grasses. Lime leaves were popped and plantains fired – memories of a mis-spent youth!

Despite glorious weather we were disappointed that we didn’t have more visitors. Perhaps we didn’t publicise it enough. Doug Larsen did manage to find graves for three different visitors, who were all very grateful.
