Mormons in the cemetery
Open Day 10th June 2012
The rain held off for the first time at one of our Open Days. Fourteen Friends welcomed visitors and led guided tours. Amongst the visitors were Jonathan Hopson (of Camp Hopson)and family - many Hopsons are buried in the cemetery, some related and some not. We also welcomed DorothyJones from Winchester whose relatives include Latter Day Saints (Mormons) from the very beginnings of the religion in the mid 19th Century. This was news to us so will be the focus of further research.
The Newbury Weekly News photographer turned up so look out for an article soon. |
