In the Beginning

The third repeat production of the Parliamentary Inquiry into the setting up of Newtown Road Cemetery.

The Resurrection Players recreated the inquiry into the need for a Cemetery, to be located at Newtown Road in Newbury.

The original inquiry was in 1847 and original minutes where taken in shorthand giving a verbatum account of the proceedings.

Ros Clow wrote, cast, produced and directed the play using the parliamentary transcripts and its at times rather grisly and graphic content about Mid-Victorian Newbury.

Set in the original venue, the Town Hall, this was the third time it had been produced over the last 10 or so years and proved again to be a sell out.
