Edmund was born to policeman John New and his Wife Ellen nee Thorn. Emily is sister to Kate Dew buried in ChNW31 born in Ramsbury to Mary Ann Langfield & George Atherton, Brewer, before their marriage. Edmund worked as a polisher before his marriage. By the 1891 census he & Emily were Innkeepers at the Two Brewers, West Mills, Newbury. After retirement, until their deaths, they lived at 85 Gloucester Rd, Newbury. Edmund left c£1600; Emily £700. They lost both children, George at 18 months and Edmund Walter tragically in a rail accident at the opening of the Lambourn to Newbury line in April 1898. The boys are buried nearby in plot ZZ2. Edward's sister, Mary Jane Hancock and d. Emily Caroline are buried in plot ZZ10. Source: Ancestry records.
