Basil was the 4th of 12 children born in St Pancras to Arthur Shelley Eddis, QC, Barrister-at-Law & Elizabeth Mary nee Wright. He was educated in Shere, Surrey and Trinity College Cambridge where he read Law. He worked as a Solicitor then became Registrar at Clerkenwell County Court. He lived in Mayfair and Chelsea. In 1896 he married in Exeter, Margaret anna Kindersely, daughter of a Vicar. THeir only child, Michael Upton Eddis was born in 1897 in Chelsea. Basil & Margaret did not move from London until later in life being recorded at 96, Newtown Road, Newbury in 1935. A year later Basil died on 23 Nov 1936at a Nursing Home, St John's Lodge, St John's Rd, Newbury. He left over £6,000His wife did not stay in Newbury, miving to Surrey, Devon and finally to her son's home in London. She is buried in Camden Cemetery.
