  Headstone: In Loving Memory of / William James Swaite / who died Oct. 23rd. 1905 / aged 62 years. / "Not dead but ever living henceforth in joy and light. / Not taken from us - only /just taken out of sight." / Also of Douglas Swaite / the dearly loved child of / Frank & Phyllis Rosier / and grandson of the above / who died March 10th. 1910 / anded 1 year & 10 months. / "In God's keeping." //
   
  Headstone in good condition but laid flat & easily buried by vegetaion. Most lead letters missings, impressions remain.

    William was born in Newbury & married Sarah Ann Sheppard, daughter of a tailor from Old Newtown Rd, in 1868. They lived at 49. 49 & opposite at 105, Bartholomew St. where he plied his trade as a boot and shoe maker. They had 5 children. His wife Sarah, who died in 1891, & their 2nd child, Henry John, a printer who died in 1899, are buried in front of his grave in P(B)4. William died in Newbury District Hospital. His grandson, Douglas Rosier is the son of his daughter Phyllis nee Swaite and her husband Frank Rosier, a boot & shoe dealer. They were living at 48, Bartholomew St when Douglas died. They later moved to 34, Enborne Rd and had another son, Norman Frank, in 1914. Sources: Ancestry records; NRC Bur Recds
