Rachel was the first wife of Thomas Merriman Nias, a grocer & son of Thomas Nias, Ironmonger. She was a farmer's daughter from Littleworth, just north of Faringdon, Berks. She married Thomas in 1876. A year after Rachel died Thomas M. married Alice Kate, a Telegraph Clerk in her widowed mother's Post Office and grocery store in Sherfield on Loddon, Hampshire. They are both buried in the plot in front of the grave of Thomas Merriman and his mother Sarah. Alice & Thomas lived at 19 Craven Rd, Newbury. Their son, Thomas Somerset Nias was a Motor Engineer.
