NOTE: Evens appears to be the correct spelling, not Evans. Minnie was born in 1884 to a farmer in Market Lavington, Wiltshire. In 19 she lived in Wiltshire at her brother, Edward's farm. By 1915 her father had moved to at 38, Enborne Rd, Newbury after her mother's death at Beedon Farm, Beedon,. Her three brothers all farmed in villages around Newbury. In 1925 Minnie was listed as Not ob Board a ship bound for Canada, giving her address as Enborne Rd. She had left for Canada in April 1925, listed as a Nurse Companion.The same address was given when she was listed on board a ship returning from Canada in 1927 & in a Newbury directory of 1935. By 1939 she was recorded as Nurse Companion to her sister Emma Gliddon's family. Emma was the wife of Rev Horace Gliddon, a Methodist Minister in Chippenham. Both Emma and son Arnold were recorded as incapacitated. Minnie died in Old Park Nursing Home, Salisbury, with her residence given as 64 Enborne Rd, Newbury. She left £7822 to her niece Elizabeth & bank cashier nephew, John Gliddon. Minnie's parents, George William & Elizabeth Kittow Slade are buried in plot LS(J)47, NRC.
