Sarah Knight

c1837-1862

Sarah was born in Newbury she was the daughter of George and Hannah Knight (nee Smith) who were married on the 19^th October 1828 at St Nicolas Church Newbury. George was born c1808 in Newbury and Hannah was born c1807 in Kingsclere Hampshire.

George was a Mealman (1841), Miller and Mealman (1851), Master Miller employing 11 men and 1 boy (1861) Miller employing 13 men and 1 boy (1871)

The family lived in Bartholomew Street Newbury (1841), Town Mill (1851), House & Flour Mill West Mills (1861) and Speenhamland (1871)

In the 1851 census Sarah wasn’t recorded living at home she was recorded as a pupil/scholar at Miss Haskins School St Marys Hill Newbury.

Sarah died aged 25 on the 12^th June 1862 she was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 17^th June.

Her father George died on the 5^th December 1871 he was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 8^th December.

Her mother Hannah died on the 24^th or 29^thDecember 1874 she was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 2^nd January 1875 (MI records date of death as 24^th Dec and Probate records date of death as 29^th Dec)
