Ann Purdue

1812-1862

Ann Everest was born 29th June 1812 in Surrey she was baptised on the18th August at St Mary’s Church Headley Surrey and was the daughter of William & Ann Everest (nee Relph) who married on the 27th November 1810 in Kemsing Kent.

Ann’s siblings were:

Ann’s family moved from Surrey to Wiltshire sometime between 1823 and 1826. In 1840 Ann gave birth to a son, David William Everest who was born in Speen Berkshire. She was recorded in the 1841 census living in Speen with her sister Jane, her brother Thomas and her son David.

Ann married Edmund Purdue (a Carpenter) in Newbury in 1845 and they had the following children:

 William George 1846

 Henry 1850

Alfred 1852-1856 (buried 9thApril 1856 in the Newtown Road Cemetery)

Mary Ann 1854-1855 (buried 26th October 1855 in the Newtown Road Cemetery)

In 1851 the family were living in Eyles Buildings. In 1861 Edmund, Ann and their son Henry were recorded living with Edmund’s parents George & Mary Purdue at 8 Railway Terrace Newbury.

Ann died aged 50 in 1862 she was laid to rest in the Newtown Cemetery on the 26th December.

Edmund remarried in 1864 in Kensington, his 2nd wife was Eliza Chappell and they had the following children: George 1866, Thomas 1868, Arthur 1870, Elizabeth Mary 1873 and John 1875

Edmund died aged 77 in Newbury in 1900 he was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 1st November.
