Ann Brindley

Ann Plumb was born in Marlborough Wiltshire she was the illegitimate daughter of Elizabeth Plumb who was born c1795 in Hampstead Marshall Berkshire. He mother had at least 3 other illegitimate children, William born c1822 baptised on the 24th May 1822 in Marlborough Wiltshire, father recorded as Richard Halloway, James born in Berkshire c1828 and Henry born in Newbury c1838 (possible father Robert Walding).

In 1841 Ann Plumb (15) was recorded living in Middleton Yard Newbury with her mother (recorded as Elizabeth Walding), Robert Walding, Henry Walding (3), William Plumb (15) and James Plumb (14).

Her mother never married, in both the 1851 and 1861 census she was recorded living in Old Newtown Road Newbury she was recorded as Elizabeth/Eliza Plumb. Robert Walding was recorded living with her as a lodger. Her mother died aged 73 in 1866 she was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 27th August.

 

Ann married Charles Brindley (born c1822 in Newbury) in 1844 in Newbury and they had the following children:

William 1849

Alfred c1854

Elizabeth 1856

Charles was a General Labourer/ General Dealer. In both the 1851 and 1861 census records the family were recorded living in Old Newtown Road Newbury.

In 1860 Ann gave birth to a stillborn child who was buried on the 7th November in the Newtown Road Cemetery.  Ann died aged 34 a couple of weeks later she was buried in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 23rd November.

Charles died aged 39 two years later he was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 17th October 1862.
