Mary Pinnock

1809-1880

 

Mary was born on the 31st January 1809 in Newbury she baptised on the 30th July at St Nicolas Church and was the daughter of William & Sarah Norris (nee Hopgood) who were married in Andover Hampshire on the 7th July 1801.

Other children of William & Sarah were (all baptised at St Nicolas Church):

William born 9th April 1802 baptised 9th May 1802

James born 5th May 1803 baptised 5th June 1803

Henry born 1st November 1805 baptised 16th February 1806

George born 20th September 1807 baptised 31st January 1808

 

 

Mary’s father was a Glover (1801, 1841 and 1851) and Breeches Maker (1815). In 1815 the family were living in Cheap Street Newbury.

In 1841 Mary was living in Trafalgar Place with his parents.

She married Thomas Pinnock, a Leather Dresser (born c1819 in Hungerford) in 1841 and they had the following children:


William 1843 (died aged 4 buried 24th December 1847)

Emma 1845 (died aged 4 in 1850)

Tom 1846

 

Mary’s mother died aged 72 in 1846 she was buried on the 6th May at St Nicolas Newbury.

In 1851 Mary, Thomas and their son Tom were living in St Bartholomew Almshouses with Mary’s father. Her father died aged 83 in 1857 he was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 5th August.

After her father’s death the family moved to Bartholomew Street. By 1871 Tom had left home and Mary and Thomas were living in Northcroft Lane, later they moved to Enborne (Enborne House).

Mary died aged 70 on the 28th January 1880 she was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 3rd February.

Her husband continued to live in Enborne until his death in 1895 he died aged 74 on the 29th May and was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 1st June.
