Edward Wilder
c1776-1861
Edward was born in Wallingford Berkshire. He married Phoebe Brunsdon (a widow, maiden name Field) on the 31st January 1809 at St Peter Wallingford. After they were married they moved to Newbury where there daughter Phoebe was born c1809.
Edward’s wife Phoebe died aged 32 in 1814 she was buried on the 16th March at St Nicolas Newbury. Edward remarried less than a year later his 2nd wife was Hannah Carver (a spinster) they married on the 27th February 1815 in Newbury, (Edward was recorded as a Publican on the marriage record).

In 1841 the family were living in West Mills Newbury and Edward was recorded as a Police Constable but by 1851 he was working as a Labourer.
Hannah died aged 76 in 1855 she was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 25th June.
In 1861 Edward was recorded as an Almsman (late Waterman) and was living in Childs Almshouses.
Edward died aged 85 in 1861 he was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 20th November.
