Sarah Webb

1866-1912

 

Sarah was born in 1866 in Newbury and was the daughter of John & Susan Webb (nee Brooks) who were married in Newbury in 1856. Her father was a Grocer.

Sarah’s siblings were:

In 1871 Sarah was living with her parents and siblings in Speenhamland (possibly Portland Place).

 In 1881 she was a pupil at Fonthill College Abbey Road Great Malvern Worcestershire (Fonthill College Abbey Road was a small boarding school for young ladies aged between about 11 and 17 years; it was in existence from about 1880 to 1912) along with her sister Mary Annie.

 In the 1891 census Sarah was recorded as a Niece in the household of her aunt, Mary Rayer at Stanmore Farm Beedon. By 1901 she was back in Newbury living with her widowed father John and some of her siblings at 50 Northbrook Street.

In the 1911 census she was recorded living with her widowed brother Samuel and sisters, Ellen, Florence and Hetty at 1 Portland Place Newbury.

 

Sarah died aged 46 in 1912 and was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 13th March.
