Alice Sperring

1868-1920

 

Alice was born in 1868 and was the eighth child of James Walter & Jane Sperring (nee Messenger) who were married in Newbury in 1851.

Her siblings were:

Mary Ann 1852   William 1854   Jane 1856   James 1859   Harriet 1861   Hannah 1863   Walter 1866

Frank Sperring 1871

Alice lived with her parents in Newbury until her mother’s death in 1903 then continued to live with her father until his death in 1911.  The1911 census records that Alice was “feeble minded from birth”

Alice died aged 52 in 1920 and was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 4th November.

Her parents, 4 sisters and 2 of her brothers, James & Frank were also buried in the Newtown Road Cemetery.
