Joseph Lampard (1808 – 1889)

                              Mary Ann Lampard (1813 – 1889)

Joseph was born circa 1808 in Aldermaston the son of John & Hannah (nee Moles) Lampard. He was baptized 24 January 1808 at St Mary the Virgin in Aldermaston.

Joseph married Hannah Chalk on 12 October 1831 at St Mary in Thatcham. Hannah was baptized 23 November 1802 at St Mary in Thatcham, the daughter of Richard & Mary. Sadly, Hannah died soon after the marriage & was buried 2 February 1832 at St Mary in Thatcham.

Joseph remarried on 11 November 1832 at St Mary in Thatcham to Mary Ann Chalk. Mary was baptized 28 March 1813 at St Mary in Thatcham, the daughter of William & Sarah.

It appears Joseph & Mary initially lived in Thatcham, as two sons were baptized in Thatcham in 1833 & 1834 & although they were subsequently recorded as being born in Speen & Newbury in the censuses. The family then moved to Woolhampton as the three younger children were all recorded as being born in Woolhampton in the census records.

Joseph & Mary were recorded in all the censuses from 1841 to 1881 inclusive living in Woolhampton. Joseph was recorded as an agricultural labourer in 1841, farm labourer in 1851, carter in 1861, farm servant in 1871 & agricultural labourer in 1881. They had five children, George, Joseph Francis, Hannah, Louisa & Elizabeth Ann.

Mary died 1 May 1889 at the Union Workhouse in Newbury
