Thomas Edmonds
He was born in 1793 in Newbury, son of Thomas Edmonds and Elizabeth, nee Church. A widower, he married Ann Higgs in 1819 at St. Bartholomew the Great, City of London. They had 10 children. He was a well-known Cabinet Maker /Upholsterer/ Paper Hanger established at 39 Northbrook Street. In 1830 he made the following announcement in the Reading Mercury:
“Thomas Edmonds Cabinet-Maker and Upholsterer Northbrook Street, Newbury, begs leave to return his sincere thanks to his friends for the liberal support he has received for the last fourteen years in the above branches, and respectfully informs them and the public in general, that he has in addition thereto, commenced the part of AUCTIONEER AND APPRAISER and humbly solicits a share of their patronage and support, assuring them that the utmost attention shall be used in expediting their commands with punctuality and dispatch.”
He died on 9 March 1862 and was buried on 15 March 1862. Probate was granted to his wife Ann, sole Executrix.
