Maria Edmonds
She was born in 1829 in Newbury, the fourth daughter of Thomas Edmonds (1793-1862) and his second wife Ann, nee Higgs (1798-1875). After her father died she joined the family business as an Upholsterer helping her widowed mother and her sisters Elizabeth Ann and Jane. She was admitted on 12 August 1879 to Laverstock House Lunatic Asylum, Salisbury, Wiltshire, as a private patient, where she died on 9 April 1887 aged 57 years. She was buried on 13 April 1887. Probate was granted to her brother Daniel Curtis Edmonds, a Draper of 32 Christchurch Road, Winchester.
