ELIZABETH ANN EDMONDS

She was born in 1821 in Newbury, the eldest daughter of Thomas Edmonds (1793-1862) and his second wife Ann, nee Higgs (1798-1875). After her father died she joined the family business as an Upholsterer helping her widowed mother at 39 Northbrook Street together with her sisters Maria and Jane. In the 1881 Census she is living at Waterloo Terrace, Speenhamland, with her sister Mary and niece Elizabeth Edmonds: she is recorded as a Fund Holder. In the 1891 and 1901 Census she is living on her own means at 24 Shaw Crescent, Speenhamland, where she died on 15 January 1909 aged 88 years. She was buried on 19 January 1909 alongside her sister Maria who predeceased her on 9 April 1887.
