Ellen May East

She was born in 1902 in Newbury, the fourth child of William Henry and Eliza Ann East (nee Lewington). In 1911 she was living, aged 8two sisters, Elizabeth Annie and Ada Mary, at No.1 Northbrook Street.  For 21 years she was an Infant Schoolteacher at Eastcote Lane School (became Roxeth Manor Infants’ School and now Roxeth Primary School) in Harrow.  She died, aged 49 years, at The Avenue Nursing Home, Hatch End, Middx. on 13 November 1951. Probate was granted to her sister Ada Mary Gardner-Leader (wife of Francis Gardner-Leader) and to Elizabeth Ann Stevens, spinster. She was cremated at Golder’s Green on 17 November and her casket was interred in her mother’s grave on 24 November 1951.
