Annie Louisa Higgs (1868 – 1868)

Annie Louisa Higgs was born on 2 June 1868 in Bartholomew Street in Newbury, the daughter of Maria Higgs. She was baptized on 5 June 1868 at St Nicolas in Newbury, as the daughter of Maria Higgs of Newbury, no father recorded.

Sadly, Annie died on 8 June 1868 aged just 6 days, and she was buried at Newtown Road Cemetery on 9 June.

Maria Higgs was born in Newbury in 1843, the daughter of William and Hannah, nee Smith, Higgs. She was recorded with her parents and siblings in Bartholomew Steet in Newbury in the 1861 census, her occupation was house servant. Ten years later in the 1871 census she was recorded as a visitor in the Old Cattle Market in Newbury and was now working as a dressmaker.

No trace of Maria in Newbury after 1871, she might have died in September 1879 in Holyport near Bray and then buried on 3 October 1879 at St Michael in Bray.
