Ann her parents, siblings and early life:

Ann was baptised on the 25th March 1829, in Winterbourne, Berkshire, the daughter of Thomas and Letitia Prince (nee Head) who were married in 1821, in Winterbourne.

Ann’s father Thomas was baptised in Chieveley, in 1797, the son of Benjamin and Phoebe Prince (nee Curtis) who were married on the 13th June 1796, in Leckhampstead. Thomas died aged 80, on the 10th January 1878, in Winterbourne

Ann’s mother Letitia was baptised in 1798, in Leckhampstead, Berkshire, the daughter of James and Mary Head (nee Oakley) who were married in 1796, in Leckhampstead. Letitia died aged 87, in 1886, in Donnington, Berkshire

In 1841 Ann (12) was living in Winterbourne, with her father Thomas (45), an Agricultural Labourer, her mother Letitia, (40) and her siblings, Joseph (15), Mary (14), Phoebe (12), Henry (8), Isaac (6), Sarah (4), Martha (2) and Elizabeth (18 months)

In 1851 Ann (22) was working as a Housemaid, in Leckhampstead, Berkshire, for a Farmer, Edward Witts (46) and his family.

(John Stratton was born c1837, he was baptised on the 30th April 1837, in Speenhamland, Berkshire, the son of Thomas and Elizabeth Stratton (nee Allen) who were married on the 16th May 1831, at St mary the Virgin, Speen, Berkshire)

John and Ann had a daughter, Annie Matilda (born c1870) baptised in 1870, in Speenhamland

The 1871 census records John Thomas (34), a Corn Porter and Labourer, Ann (40) and their daughter Annie (1), living in Speenhamland, Berkshire.

In 1891 John Thomas (59), a General Labourer, Ann (60) and their daughter Annie M. (21), a Housemaid, were living at 1, Stanley Terrace, Speenhamland, Berkshire

The 1901 census records John (68), an Agricultural Labourer and Ann (72), living at 3 Kennet Place, Newbury, Berkshire

Ann was widowed in 1908, John Thomas Stratton died aged 70. (Death registered in the March quarter, in Newbury).

The 1911 census records Ann (80) as an old age pensioner, lodging at 33 West Street, Newbury, with her married daughter Annie Matilda Hill (43), her son-in-law, William Hill (44), a Groom/Domestic Gardener and her grandchildren, Francis William (18), Dorothy Annie (14), Ernest Edward (13) and Albert Henry (6).

Ann died aged 84, in the Workhouse Infirmary in 1915, she was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 30th December.
