Percy William Turner

1878-1878

Percy was born in Newbury, Berkshire, the son of Caleb and Fanny Turner (nee Ayres) who were married in 1876, in Windsor, Berkshire.

Percy died aged 7 months, on the 19^th December 1878. He was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 23^rd December.

Percy’s parents:

His mother Fanny was born in Clewer, Windsor, Berkshire, the daughter of Thomas and Mary Ayres (nee Perry) who were married on the 11^th July 1830, at St Lawrence, Reading, Berkshire

His father Caleb was born c1852 in Newbury, Berkshire, the son of William and Anna Maria Turner (nee Hawkins) who were married in 1851 (marriage registered in Hungerford). In 1871 Caleb (19) was working as a Shopman, in Clewer, Berkshire.

Soon after Caleb and Fanny were married, they moved to Newbury, living at 29 West Street where Caleb had Dress and Mantle Making business.

Caleb died aged 27, on the 16^th July 1879. He was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery with Percy William, on the 19^th July.

The 1881 census records Fanny (27) living in West Street, Newbury. Her sister Annie Ayres (30) was living with her. Both were recorded as Dressmakers.

By 1891 Fanny and Ann, both Dressmakers, were living in Carnarvon Street, Newbury. The 1901 and 1911 census records also record them living in in Carnarvon Street, working as Dressmakers.

Sometime between 1911 and 1916 the sisters had moved to 1, St Mary’s Almshouses, Cheap Street, Newbury.

Fanny died aged 62, on the 29^th October 1916, she was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery with Caleb and Percy William, on the 1^st November.
