Ann Ayres
1850-1920
Ann was born in Clewer, Windsor, Berkshire, the daughter of Thomas and Mary Ayres (nee Perry) who were married on the 11th July 1830, at St Lawrence, Reading, Berkshire.
Her mother Mary was born c1810, in Rye, Sussex. She was baptised on the 16th September 1810, Playden, Rye, Sussex, the daughter of William and Frances Perry.
Ann’s father Thomas was born c1811, in Thatcham Berkshire. (Possible baptism, 26th July 1807, parents, John and Hannah Ayres)

Fanny, born 1853, in Clewer, Windsor
The 1851 census records Ann, aged 3 months, living at 5, Distil House Row, Clewer, with her father Thomas (40,) a Cordwainer, her mother Mary (36) and her brother Thomas (3). Distil House Row was a Victorian-era alley and tenement lane that was located near River Street and Bier Lane, in Clewer).
By 1861 Thomas Ayres (50), a Shoemaker, Mary (46), Ann (10) and Fanny (2), were living in Providence Place, Clewer.
The 1871 census records Ann (20) as a Domestic Nursemaid, at 80, Peascod Street, New Windsor, the home of Gun Maker, William Hill (54) and his family.
By 1881 Annie 30 was living in West Street, Newbury, Berkshire with her widowed sister Fanny Turner (27), both were working as Dressmakers. (Ann’s sister Fanny married Caleb Turner in 1876, in Windsor. She was widowed in 1879)
By 1891 Ann and Fanny, both Dressmakers, were living in Carnarvon Street, Newbury. The 1901 and 1911 census records also record them living in in Carnarvon Street, working as Dressmakers.
By 1916 Fanny and Ann were living at 1, St. Mary's Almshouses, Cheap Street, Newbury.
Fanny died aged 62, on the 29th October 1916, she was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery, with her husband Caleb and her son Percy William, on the 1st November.
Probate records record Fanny leaving Ann £477 5s 9d
Ann died aged 69, on the 16th June 1920, she was laid to rest with her parents, in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 19th June.
