Twins, John William and Joseph James were born in Newbury, Berkshire, the sons of Joseph and Alice Louisa Partridge (nee Burr) who were married in 1909. (Marriage registered in Newbury)

John William died aged 6 days. His twin brother Joseph James died two days later. Both boys were laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 8^th April 1910.

The family:

Their father Joseph was born c1883 in either West Kensington, Middlesex or Portsmouth, Hampshire, the son of Joseph and Ann Partridge (nee Sandiford) who were married on the 26^th October 1885, at St James the Great, Bethnal Green, Middlesex.

Their mother Alice Louisa was born in1880, in Dereham, Norfolk, the daughter of William Archibald and Louisa Mary Burr (formerly Townsend, nee Cooper) who were married on the 13^th August 1878, in Mortlake, Surrey.

Joseph and Alice Louisa also had the following two children:

Beatrice May Louisa, born 1911, in Newbury

Stanley Francis, born c1915, in Newbury

In 1911 Joseph (28) was working as a Domestic Gardener, living with Alice Louisa (30) and their daughter Beatrice (under one month old), at 6 Westfield Gate, Newbury, Berkshire.

During the 1^st World War, Joseph served as a Private, in the 24^th Battalion of the Princess Charlotte of Wales (Royal Berkshire) Regiment. He was killed on the 29^th April 1918, in France and Flanders.

In 1921 Beatrice (10) and Stanley (6) were living with their paternal grandparents John and Annie Partridge and their uncles, William and John Partridge, at 2 Henman Cottages, Wash Common, Andover Road, Newbury. No census record found for Alice Louisa in this census.

Alice Louisa died aged 50, in 1931. She was buried on the 9^th March, at St Mary, Cholsey, Wallingford.

(A Possibility: As Alice Louisa’s children were living with their grandparents in 1921 and Alice Louisa was buried at St Mary, Cholsey, she may have been a patient in the Moulsford Lunatic Asylum, in Cholsey and died there 10 years later)
