Hannah, her parents and siblings:

Hannah was baptised on the 31st March 1794, in Hamstead Marshall, Berkshire, the daughter of James and Sarah Pickernell (nee Paine) who were married on the 1st May 1791, at St Michael and All Angels, Enborne, Berkshire.

Hannah’s father James was baptised in 1767, in Hamstead Marshall, the son of John and Martha Pickernell (nee Bance) who were married in 1760, in Hamstead Marshall. James died aged 66, he was buried on the 21st December 1833, at St Mary, Hamstead Marshall.

Hannah’s mother was born c1770. She died in 1806 and was buried on the 12th January, at St Mary, Hamstead Marshall

James and Sarah also had the following children baptised in Hamstead Marshall:

Martha, 6th November 1791

Harriet, 2nd October 1796

John, 30th December 1798

James, 21st June 1801

Sarah, 4th September 1803

William, 5th January 1806 (died 1806 buried 12th Jan, with his mother, Sarah)

Hannah in later life:

Hannah married Richard Dredge in 1825, in Hamstead Marshall, Berkshire.

(Richard was baptised on the 5thAugust 1796, at St Nicolas Church Newbury, Berkshire, the son of James and Anna Maria Dredge).

Richard and Hannah had the following children baptised at St Nicolas, Newbury:

Anna Maria, 14th April 1826 (born 17th March)

David, 9th March 1828 (born 12th February)

Richard, 3rd September 1830 (born 12th August)

Hannah, 28th July 1833 (born 4th July)

Martha, 15th May 1836 (born 15th May)

Harriott Elizabeth, 2nd June 1839 (born 9th May)

The 1841 census records Richard (40), a Basket Maker, Hannah (45), Anna (15), David (13), Richard (10), Hannah (70, Martha (5) and Harriott (2), living in Northbrook Street, Newbury.

In 1851 Richard (54), a Basket Maker, Hannah (57) and their children, David (23), a Basket Maker, Richard (20), a Shoemaker and Harriott (11), were recorded living in Northbrook Street, Newbury.

In 1861 Richard (64), was recorded as a Proprietor of Houses, living at 4, Southampton Terrace, Newbury, with Hannah (66) and their daughter Martha (25), a Dressmaker.

Hannah died aged 74, on the 4th September 1867, she was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 7th September.

Richard after Hannah’s death:

In 1871 Richard (74) a Retired Basket Maker, was still living at 4 Southampton Terrace, Newbury. His daughters Hannah (37) and Harriott (31) were living with him.

Richard died aged 76, on the 10th July 1872, he was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 15th July, with Hannah.
