Elizabeth Newth

Elizabeth was baptised on the 24^th July 1768, in Radbourne Cheney, Wiltshire, the daughter of John and Jemima Jackson (nee Adams) who were married on the 10^th October 1766, in Rodbourne Cheney.

John and Jemima also had a son, William, baptised on the 25^th December 1766, in Rodbourne Cheney.

Elizabeth married John Newth on the 10^th January, 1791, in Wootton Bassett, Wiltshire.

Elizabeth was widowed in 1812, John died aged 53. He was buried on the 5^th September, in Wootton Bassett.

In 1841 Elizabeth (65) was recorded living in Northbrook Street, Newbury, Berkshire, with her son Robert (40), a Publican, her daughter-in-law, Ann (30), Ann’s brother-in-law, Benjamin Parfitt (25) and his wife Elizabeth Parfitt (25), Ann’s niece Thurza Farley (15), a Joseph Waite (20), a Jacob Crook (30), an Edward Griffin (50), his wife Harriet Griffin (50) and their children, Thomas Griffin (15), William Griffin (15) Edward Griffin (12) and Charles Griffin (9).

The 1851 census records Elizabeth (84) living at “The Rising Sun”, Wharf Road, Newbury, Berkshire, with her son Robert (51) a Coal Merchant, her daughter-in-law, Ann (44), her granddaughter Sarah Gye (20) and Ann’s nieces, Thurza Farley (23) and Ann Pariftt (8).

Elizabeth died aged 88 in 1853, she was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 21^st March.
