Elizabeth was baptised on the 24th July 1768, in Radbourne Cheney, Wiltshire, the daughter of John and Jemima Jackson (nee Adams) who were married on the 10th October 1766, in Rodbourne Cheney.

John and Jemima also had a son, William, baptised on the 25th December 1766, in Rodbourne Cheney.

Elizabeth married John Newth on the 10th January, 1791, in Wootton Bassett, Wiltshire.

John and Elizabeth had the following children baptised in Wootton Bassett:

Sarah, 26th January 1794

John, 4th June 1797

Robert, 23rd February 1800

Jemima, 19th June 1803

Mark, 20th April 1806

William, 6th December 1807

George, 16th May 1813       (dad recorded as a Labourer)

Elizabeth was widowed in 1812, John died aged 53. He was buried on the 5th September, in Wootton Bassett.

In 1841 Elizabeth (65) was recorded living in Northbrook Street, Newbury, Berkshire, with her son Robert (40), a Publican, her daughter-in-law, Ann (30), Ann’s brother-in-law, Benjamin Parfitt (25) and his wife Elizabeth Parfitt (25), Ann’s niece Thurza Farley (15), a Joseph Waite (20), a Jacob Crook (30), an Edward Griffin (50), his wife Harriet Griffin (50) and their children, Thomas Griffin (15), William Griffin (15) Edward Griffin (12) and Charles Griffin (9).

The 1851 census records Elizabeth (84) living at “The Rising Sun”, Wharf Road, Newbury, Berkshire, with her son Robert (51) a Coal Merchant, her daughter-in-law, Ann (44), her granddaughter Sarah Gye (20) and Ann’s nieces, Thurza Farley (23) and Ann Pariftt (8).

Elizabeth died aged 88 in 1853, she was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 21st March.
