Francis John Megraw was born in Newbury, Berkshire, the son of James and Martha Megraw (nee Hovey) who were married in 1892 (marriage registered in Newbury)

Francis John Megraw died aged 4 months, his funeral service was held at St John the Evangelist, Newbury and he was buried in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 6th July 1895

His mother Martha was baptised on the 4th June 1865, at Holy Trinity, Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire, the daughter of Charles (a Labourer) and Mary Ann Hovey (nee Cull), who were married in 1846, in Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire.

His father James Magraw was born on the 16th January 1866, in Padworth, Berkshire, the son of Daniel Megraw and Mary Ann (nee Stevens) who were married on the 25th October 1846, in Silchester, Hampshire.

Other known children of James and Martha were:

William James Megraw, c1894 in Newbury (died aged 21, in WW1, on the 15th May 1915)

Dorothy Emma Megraw, 1898, in Newbury (died aged 6, in 1904, buried 15th Dec. at Holy Trinity, Grazerley)

Winifred May Mcgraw, 1901, in Wokingham

Phylis Mary Megraw, 1903, in Wokingham

Alice Margery Megrew, 1908, in Wokingham

The 1901 census records James Meagrew (35), as a Platelayer Foreman, living at Pound Green Cottages, Shinfield, Berkshire, with Martha (34) and their children, William (7) and Dorothy (2).

In 1915 James and Martha were living in Railway Terrace, Mortimer, Berkshire.

Martha Megraw died aged 66, in 1931, she was buried on the 16th July, at St Mary, Stratfield Mortimer.

The 1939 Register records James as a Retired G.W.R. Ganger, living alone at 4, Station Cottages, Mortimer.

James Megraw died on the 13th May 1941, at the Wallingford Emergency Hospital. At the time of his death, he was still living at 4, Railway Terrace, Mortimer, Berkshire.
