Florence Annie was born in Newbury, Berkshire, she was baptised on the 14th August 1883, at St Nicolas Church, Newbury, the daughter of George and Caroline Mary Perris (formerly Marshall, nee Teel).

Florence Annie died aged 6, on the 1st March 1889, she was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 6th March.

Florence Annie’s family:

Her mother Caroline Mary was born in 1840, in Newbury, she was baptised on the 24th January 1841, at St Nicolas Church, Newbury, the daughter of Joseph (a Tailor) and Charlotte Teel (nee Goodyer) who were married on the 22nd April 1827, at St Nicolas, Newbury.

Florence Annie’s mother Caroline Mary married Charles Marshall (an Ostler) on the 27th April 1862, at St Nicolas, Newbury. They had the following children baptised at St Nicolas, Newbury:

 Charles William, 12th July 1863

Sarah Mary, 7th Feb. 1864

Elizabeth Ann, (dead) 11th January 1867, (buried 16th Jan.)

Charlotte Caroline, 4th Oct.1868

Henrietta, 2nd July 1871

Emma Ann, 5th July 1874

In 1871 the family were recorded living at 1 Knight’s Yard, Cheap Street, Newbury.

Caroline was widowed in 1875, Charles died age 36, he was buried in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 22nd January.

Caroline remarried on the 7th March 1880 at St Nicolas, Newbury. Her 2nd husband was George Perris, a Gas Stoker.

Florence Annie’s father George, was born c1850 in Welford, Berkshire, the son of Amos and Mary Perris (nee Wailing/Wayling) who were married on the 13th March 1842, at St Andrew, Boxford

The 1881 census records George (37) as a Labourer, living at 1 Gilbert Court, Newbury, with Caroline (39) and her children, Sarah M. Marshall (17), a Domestic Servant, Caroline C. Marshall (15), a Domestic Servant and Emma A. Marshall (7).

Florence’s mother Caroline Mary Perris died aged 49, in 1891, in Reading, Berkshire.

The 1901 census records George (47) as a General Labourer, living at 86 Spring Gardens, St Giles, Reading, Berkshire. His niece, Beatrice E. Perris (33), a Dressmaker, was living with him. (Beatrice Emily Perris was the daughter of George’s brother Amos and his wife Emily, nee Wells)

In 1911 George (58) was recorded as a General Labourer, lodging at 59 Lower Thorn Street, Reading, Berkshire. (Surname recorded as Perres on ancestry)

George died aged 62, in 1917, in Reading, Berkshire.
