Sophia was born on the 26th August 1815, she was baptised on the 27th August, in Beenham, Berkshire, the daughter of John and Mary Turner (nee Twitchen) who were married on the 21st August 1814, in Padworth, Berkshire. (John was from Woolhampton, witnesses: Wm Balding, Jane Turner and Sophia Turner)

Sophia’s siblings were (all baptised in Beenham):

Eliza, 29th June 1817

John, 27th June 1819

Mary, 2nd September 1821

Joseph, 20th July 1823

William, 9th April 1826

Henry John, 12th July 1828

In 1851 Sophia (35) was recorded working as a Dressmaker, living in Aldermaston, Berkshire.

Sophia married William Parr in 1852, (marriage registered in Newbury)

(William was a Carpenter. He was baptised on the 15th October 1815, at St Nicolas Church, Newbury, the son of Robert and Mary Parr (nee Woods) who were married on the 2nd August 1808, at St Nicolas, Newbury. In 1851 William (36) was lodging in Woolhampton, Berkshire. (2.3 miles from Aldermaston))

William and Sophia had the following 3 children baptised at St Nicolas Church, Newbury:

William 9th February 1854 (died aged 8 days, buried in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 17th February)

Mary, 31st August 1856

Eliza, 26th September 1858

The 1861 census records William (45), Sophia (45), their daughters Mary (5), Eliza (2) and a house servant, living in Masons Yard, Northbrook Street, Newbury.

Sophia died aged 48 in 1863, she was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 8th September.

William died aged 56 in 1869, he was buried on the 27th May, at St Mary the Virgin, Speen, Berkshire.
