Sophia Parr

1815-1863

Sophia was born on the 26^th August 1815, she was baptised on the 27^th August, in Beenham, Berkshire, the daughter of John and Mary Turner (nee Twitchen) who were married on the 21^st August 1814, in Padworth, Berkshire. (John was from Woolhampton, witnesses: Wm Balding, Jane Turner and Sophia Turner)

In 1851 Sophia (35) was recorded working as a Dressmaker, living in Aldermaston, Berkshire.

Sophia married William Parr in 1852, (marriage registered in Newbury)

(William was a Carpenter. He was baptised on the 15^th October 1815, at St Nicolas Church, Newbury, the son of Robert and Mary Parr (nee Woods) who were married on the 2^nd August 1808, at St Nicolas, Newbury. In 1851 William (36) was lodging in Woolhampton, Berkshire. (2.3 miles from Aldermaston))

William and Sophia had the following 3 children baptised at St Nicolas Church, Newbury:

William 9^th February 1854 (died aged 8 days, buried in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 17^th February)

Mary, 31^st August 1856

Eliza, 26^th September 1858

The 1861 census records William (45), Sophia (45), their daughters Mary (5), Eliza (2) and a house servant, living in Masons Yard, Northbrook Street, Newbury.

Sophia died aged 48 in 1863, she was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 8^th September.

William died aged 56 in 1869, he was buried on the 27^th May, at St Mary the Virgin, Speen, Berkshire.
