Alice Robinson
1856-1856
Alice was born in Berkshire (probably Greenham) the daughter of James Robinson and Ruth Thomas who were married in Reading, Berkshire in 1856 (marriage registered in the December quarter).
Alice died soon after she was born. Her birth was registered in the June quarter and her death was registered in the September quarter 1856.
Alice’s family:
Her father James was baptised in 1823, in Bisham, Berkshire, the son of Richard and Mary Robinson (nee Adby) who were married in Bisham in 1821.
Her mother Ruth was baptised on the 24th February 1822, in East Garston, Berkshire, the daughter of Daniel and Mary Thomas (nee Deluce) who were married in Hurst, Berkshire in 1811.

In 1851 James (28), a GWR Policeman, Ruth (29), James Henry (3), Mary (2), William (1) and Ruth’s sister, Jane Thomas (21), were recorded living in Stroud Green, Greenham, Berkshire.
By 1861 James (38) was working as a Painter, living in Seamer Place, Reading, with Ruth (39) James (13), Mary (12), William (11), Maria (9), Eliza (6) and Martha (2).
The 1871 census records James (48) as a Plumber and Glazier, living in Cranford Village, Middlesex, with Ruth (49), a Laundress, Richard (9), Ruth (7) and an illegitimate grandson, Henry Edward (4).
In 1881 James (58) was recorded as a Plumber and Painter. He was still living in Cranford Village, with Ruth (59), their daughters Eliza (27), Martha (22), Ruth (17), all Laundresses and two grandsons, William Arthur Fisher and Thomas Edward Robinson, both aged 4.
James died aged 63 in 1886 (death registered in Staines, Middlesex)
In 1887 Ruth’s married daughter Eliza Ann Haines and her family emigrated to Canada. Eliza died two years later.
Ruth and her daughters Martha and Ruth moved to Canada arriving in October 1889, they settled in Vancouver.
Ruth died on the 6th August 1894 in Vancouver, Canada, she was buried on the 8th August in Mountain View Cemetery
