Georgiana Rowson
1845-1928
Georgiana, her parents, siblings and early life:
Georgiana was born in 1845, in Lincolnshire, she was baptised on the 29th December 1845, at St Thomas, Market Rasen, Lincolnshire, the daughter of Henry (a Butcher) and Martha Rawlinson (nee Goodwin) who were married on the 27th September 1841, in Kingston upon Hull, York.
Her father Henry was born c1821 in Rothwell, Lincolnshire. Henry died aged 72, in 1895 and was buried on the 16th March, at St Mary Tetford.
Her mother Martha was born c1820 in Bratoft, Lincolnshire. She was baptised on the 2nd May 1820, at St Peter and St Paul, Bratoft, the daughter of Javis (a Farmer) and Ann Goodwin (nee Robinson) who were married on the 20th May 1798, at St Mary Magdalene, Rothwell, Lincolnshire. Martha died aged 76 in 1896, she was buried on the 24th August, at St Mary Tetford.
Henry and Martha also had the following children baptised in Lincolnshire:

In 1851 Henry (30), Martha (31), Rachel (7), Georgiana (5), Philip (3) and Abigail (1), were recorded living at Turnpike, Sibsey, Lincolnshire.
The 1861 census records Henry (39), a Farmer, Martha (40), Charles (18), Rachel (17), Georgiana (15), Abigail (11), Marmaduke (9), Henry (7), Martha (5), Henrietta (3) and Lionel (1), living in Minting., Lincolnshire.
In 1871 Georgiana gave birth to an illegitimate son, Frederick Brian, who was baptised on the 11th December 1871, at St Mary Tetford, Lincolnshire.
In 1871 Henry (48), a Butcher, was recorded living in Tetford, Lincolnshire, with Charles (27), an Agricultural Labourer, Georgiana (24), Martha (15), Henrietta (13), Lionel (11), Celia (7) and Georgiana’s illegitimate son, aged 4 days old (later named Frederick Brian). Martha (50) was recorded at the home of her widowed sister-in-law, Frances Goodwin (36), in Bratoft.
(Georgiana’s illegitimate son Frederick Brian (10), was recorded living in West Road, Tetford, Lincolnshire in 1881, with his grandparents Henry (59), an Agricultural Labourer, Martha (60), a Sewing Mistress and his aunt, Celia (18), a Pupil Teacher.
The 1891 census records Frederick Brian (20), as a Grocer’s Assistant, lodging at 24 Washington Road, Sheffield, Yorkshire. He died aged 28 on the 21st March 1900, in Sheffield).
Georgiana in later life:
Georgiana married Joseph Leemon Rowson in 1873 in Lincolnshire.
(Joseph Leman Rowson was born in 1843 in Lincolnshire, he was baptised Joseph Lemon on the 23rd September 1843, at t Nicholas, Swaby, Lincolnshire, the son of Lemon (a Tailor) and Richenda Rowson (nee Riches) who were married on the 1st May 1842, at St James, Spilsby, Lincolnshire.
Joseph married Margaret Annie Gray on the 15th June 1868, at Holy Trinity, Hull, Yorkshire. They had the following children:
Ada, born 1868, (baptised aged 10, on the 3rd August 1879, at St Margaret, Salmonby, Lincolnshire)
Laura, born 1870, (baptised 31st December 1879, at St Mary, Horncastle)
John Henry Leeman, born c1872 (baptised 31st December 1879 with sister Laura, at St Mary, Horncastle)
Joseph was widowed in 1872, Margaret Annie died aged 25, she was buried on 2nd June, at St Mary, Horncastle).
Joseph and Georgiana had the following children:
Lionel Frederick, born 1874 (baptised 24th March 1878, at St Mary, Telford)
Ernest, born c1878 (baptised 24th March 1878, at St Mary, Telford with brother Lionel)
Martha Florence, born 1880 (baptised 1st April 1880, at St Mary, Horncastle)
Celia, baptized 20th May 1883, at St Mary, Horncastle
Henrietta, born 1886 (baptised 30th August 1887, at St Mary, Horncastle)
The 1881 census records Joseph Leaman (36) as a Tailor and Outfitter, living in Marcham Row, Horncastle, with Georgina (35), Laura (10), Lionel Frederick (6), John Henry Leeman (9), Ernest (3) and Martha Florence (1).
In 1891 Joseph (46) was recorded as a Tailor and Hatter, he was still living at 3 Marcham Row, with Georgiana (44), Laura (20), John H. L. (19), a Tailor, Ernest (13), Martha F. (11), Celia (7) and Henrietta (4).
By 1901 Joseph (57) was working as a Tailor’s Cutter, living at 2 Waterloo Villas, Newbury, Berkshire, with Georgina (55), Martha Florence (21), School Teacher, Celia (17), a School Teacher and Henrietta (14). (Surname mistakenly recorded as Lowson on ancestry)
The 1911 census also records Joseph (67) as a Tailor’s Cutter. He was recorded living at 67 Gloucester Road, Newbury, with Georgina (65) and Martha (31), an Elementary School Teacher. Their daughter Celia (27) was recorded living at 11 Westbourne Square, Paddington with her married Sister Henrietta Rawlinson (24), her brother-in-law Ernest Goodwin Rawlinson (34) and her niece Bridget Mary Goodwin Rawlinson (2 months)
Georgiana was widowed in 1920. Joseph Leman died aged 77, on the 12th July. he was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 16th July 1920.
In 1921 Georgina (75) was living at 4 Chesterfield Road, Newbury, with her daughters Martha Florence (43), an Elementary School Teacher, Henrietta Rawlinson (34), her grandchildren, Bridget Mary Goodwin Rawlinson (10), Peter Marmaduke Goodwin Rawlinson (7) and two visitors, Marmaduke Rawlinson (69) and Margaret Rawlinson (65) (Georgiana’s brother and his wife). Celia doesn’t appear to be recorded in the census for this year.
Georgiana’s daughter Celia died 42, on the 13th April 1926, at University College Hospital, London. Her body was brought to Newbury and she was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 16th April.
Georgiana died aged 82 on the 23rd May 1928, she was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery, with her husband, on the 26th May.
