Emma Adams
c1837-1918
Emma, her parents, siblings and early life:
Emma was born in Lambourn Berkshire. She was baptised on the 6th August 1837, at St Michael and All Angels, Lambourn, Berkshire, the daughter of Henry (a Labourer) and Mary Mackrell (nee Cannons) who were married on the 12th December 1835, in East Garston, Berkshire.
Emma’s father Henry was baptised on the 2nd August 1807, in East Garston, the son of Henry and Sarah Makarel (nee Clements) who were married on the 3rd October 1805 at St Lawrence, Hungerford. He died aged 40 in 1848 and was buried on the 10th February at St Mary Lambourn Woodlands.
Her mother Mary was born c1813 in Benham, Berkshire. She was baptised in1813 in Welford and Wickham, the daughter of John and Sarah Cannons. Mary died aged 84, in 1897, She was buried on the 13th November at St Mary, Lambourn Woodlands.

The 1841 census records Emma (4), living in the village of Eastbury, in the parish of Lambourn, Berkshire, with her father Henry (30), an Agricultural Labourer, her mother Mary (25) and her brother Alfred (1).
In 1851 Emma (15), was living in Lambourn Woodlands, Berkshire, with her widowed mother Mary (37), A Laundress and her siblings, Alfred (11), Elijah (9) and Sarah (6)
Emma in later life:
Emma married George Buckeridge in 1860 (marriage registered in Hungerford)
(George Buckeridge was a Tailor. He was baptised on the 2nd March 1828, in Hungerford, Berkshire, the son of Mary Buckeridge)
The 1861 census records George (33) and Emma (23), living in the High Street, Hungerford.
They had a son, Henry George, born in 1861, in Hungerford
In 1871 George (42), Emma (33) and their son Henry (9) were recorded living in Bridge Street, Hungerford.
The 1881 census records George (53), Emma (43) and Henry (19), a Corn Porter, living at The Bridge, Hungerford.
Emma was widowed in 1885, George died aged 57. He was laid to rest on the 21st March, at St Lawrence, Hungerford.
Emma remarried in 1888, her 2nd husband was James Adams
(James was a Timber Dealer, He was baptised in 1831, Bucklebury, Berkshire, the son of George and Elizabeth Adams (nee Winterbourne) who were married in 1817 in Bucklebury, Berkshire. He married Annie FiField in 1859. They had the following eight children, Frederick Fifield, 1860, Henry James, 1862, Albert George, 1863, Edgar John, 1865, Percival Richard, 1867, Auberon Edwin c1869, Edith Maud, 1870 and Berthay May, 1872. James was widowed in 1882.)
In 1891 Emma (56), James (60) and his daughter Edith Maud(e) (20), were recorded living at Vine Cottage, Greenham, Berkshire.
The 1901 census records Emma (63), living at Vine Cottage, Greenham Road, Newbury, with James (70), now retired and Emma’s grandson George Buckeridge (14)
(Emma’s son Henry George married Miriam Elvina Knight in 1886. They had the following children, George, 1886, Blanche Ivy, 1887 and Henry Gordon, 1890. Henry George was the licensed victualler at the Railway Tavern, Hungerford. He died aged 27, on the 12th June 1889 and was buried 15th June, at St Lawrence, Hungerford)
Emma was widowed again in 1901. James died aged 70, on the 27th April. He was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 1st May, with his 1st wife Annie (buried 20th October 1882)
In 1911 Emma (73) was living alone at 3, Poplar Cottages, Jubilee Road, Newbury.
She died aged 80, on the 22nd June 1918 and was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 26th June.
